Dr. Saldaña received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University in 2003. She completed a specialty residency in psychiatry and Master of Science from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005. She has over 10 years of practice as a psychiatric pharmacist, with a focus on child and adolescent psychiatry. After six years in Ohio at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Dr. Saldaña joined Intermountain Healthcare at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has practiced in various levels of care, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient. Dr. Saldaña collaborates to plan and implement strategies and systems to decrease hazardous opioid use, addiction, and overdose in Utah, though endeavors in prevention, public awareness, provider education, access to treatment, and legislation. She has led and collaborated with teams to introduce naloxone dispensing in community pharmacies and to create and implement community pharmacy naloxone collaborative practice agreements. She is also interested in early onset psychosis, clozapine, metabolic effects of antipsychotics, quality improvement, patient medication education groups, and publishing in the biomedical literature.
