Dr. Servet Tatli has been a member of the Brigham faculty for 12 years. As you all know, Servet hails from Turkey and came to the United States after completing his residency. He began his career at Brigham as a fellow in cardiovascular imaging and realized that his principal interest was in abdominal imaging and intervention. After completing a fellowship in our Section, we were so impressed with him that we asked him to join our faculty in 2004. During his time with us, Servet rose to the rank of Associate Professor, become a clinical stalwart in tumor ablation, and lead our AII Fellowship for the past 5 years. Let me highlight some of Servet’s outstanding accomplishments while at Brigham.

Servet has been an exemplary clinician. In addition to his work in imaging, including his interest in vascular disorders and the spleen, he has concentrated on interventional radiology. He has contributed greatly to the Department’s Image Guided Therapy Program and has been one of the leaders in building what is now a robust clinical tumor ablation service. Servet has treated patients with cancers throughout the body and used virtually every ablative agent that has been developed.

From the standpoint of research, Servet has collaborated well with members of our Surgical Planning Laboratory, garnered several grants from the NIH, and written over 60 original articles, and 20 book chapters and reviews. He has been a leader in applying image registration work to ablation and has been a pioneer in using PET/CT to guide intervention, including tumor ablation. One of his manuscripts on PET/CT-guided intervention was highlighted and featured on the front cover of the field’s leading journal, RADIOLOGY.

Servet has been an outstanding teacher. He has done an outstanding job leading our Fellowship in abdominal imaging and intervention and has improved it tremendously. Because of his work, ours is one of the most desirable abdominal fellowships in the country.
