Sasha Rai is a forensic neuropsychiatrist at the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. He received his medical degree at the University of Mauritius in 2005. He then completed his residency in Psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, CO.

After his fellowship training, he worked as the medical director of forensic psychiatry at Denver Health and the Denver Sheriff Department Health Services. In that role, he was responsible for the delivery of all behavioral health care services in the Denver City and County Jails. He subsequently completed a second fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE.

He is currently interested in understanding the impact of cognition and neurodegenerative disorders in individuals who are incarcerated in correctional and forensic institutions. Additionally, he is board certified in addiction medicine.
