Rebecca Mei Li Ng BSc, PhD

Dr Rebecca Ng Mei Li is a University lecturer from AMDI, University Science Malaysia (USM). Dr Rebecca obtained her BSc. in Biomedical Sciences at University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia and her PhD in Medicine at University of Sydney, Australia. Prior to her current appointment, Dr Rebecca spent her scientific career at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Her earlier work demonstrated the role Sphingosine kinase (SphK) in insulin signalling and gluconeogenesis. This work revealed for the first time the potential regulation and molecular mechanism of sphingolipid regulated insulin signalling in endogenous hepatic glucose production and raised the intriguing possibility of targeting SphK as a novel treatment target for hyperglycaemia in diabetes.
