Pedro Tanaka is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesia, Stanford University Medical School. He is a Brazilian and completed medical school, anesthesia training, and Ph.D. in Brazil.he has appointed as an Instructor at the Federal University of Parana in Brazil in 1994, promoted to Assistant Professor in 1996, and to Associate Professor in 2000. he came to Stanford University for a sabbatical year in 2007. It was a great fit on both sides, and he decided on a long-term career at Stanford. he recently graduated from “The Master of Academic Medicine program” at the University of Southern California. At Stanford, he has been involved with the resident education not only direct supervision but by initiating and working on several educational projects (spinal anesthesia teaching module, the keyword of the day, iPad as a teaching tool in the orthopedic rotation, clinical base year rotation, libero lecture program, and Feedback tool). He currently serves as one of the Associate Residency Program Directors, Chair of the Education Committee; Director of Teaching Scholars Program, and The Advanced Training in Medical Education at Stanford Anesthesia. he clinical activity has focused on anesthesia for orthopedic surgery, particularly orthopedic total joint replacements.he has the anesthesia department's liaison with the orthopedic department. Her areas of interest are Developing, leading and evaluating programs; Designing curricula and assessing learners and Designing, implementing, and studying innovations.
