Pamela Gonzalez MD MS, FAAP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. She received her MD from the University of Massachusetts, where she also pursued graduate studies in Neuroscience. Dr. Gonzalez completed internship in Pediatrics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and subsequently completed residency in Pediatrics at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center.

Dr. Gonzalez has a longstanding interest in child and adolescent behavioral health, and is one of the few Pediatricians in the US to complete fellowship training in Addiction Medicine, which she pursued at the University of Minnesota. She now devotes all of her clinical time to providing evaluation and care to patients age 12 years and older with substance use concerns and co-occurring psychiatric illness.

She is a member of the AAP Committee on Substance Abuse, and is a Core Project Team member of the AAP Practice Improvement to Address Adolescent Substance Use. Dr. Gonzalez represents the AAP as Steering Committee Member to Providers’ Clinical Support Services for both Opioid Therapies and Medication-Assisted Treatment. She is a frequent Peer Reviewer for Journal of Addiction Medicine, and serves on Governor Dayton’s Task Force on Minnesota Medical Cannabis.
