Dr Revel started doing fieldwork in the Philippines in 1970 as a linguist and an anthropologist. In 1975 she received the Bronze Medal of the CNRS in General Linguistics for her description of Palawan language. She has published several books on Palawan epic poetry in Palawan and French. She convened during six years a series of lectures on Voice at the Centre de Recherche sur l'Oralité, INALCO and was the editor of "Pour une Anthropologie des voix"(1993). From 1990 to 2000, she coordinated an International Seminar on "Epics" in "The Integral Study of Silk Roads: Roads of Dialogue", under the auspices of UNESCO, she encouraged programs of safeguarding an Intangible Heritage, and implemented it in the Philippines, with the support of the French Ministery of Foreign Affairs. The 'Archives of Epics in the Philippines' is in Ateneo de Manila University. Since 2007 she conducts a seminar at Musée du quai Branly, EHESS and Cerlom Inalco on Literature of Voice, the Performing Arts and Rituals in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Since September 2011 she is a member of UMR 7206 Éco-anthropologie et éthnobiologie, at Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris (MNHN).
