Dr. Catalano founded our practice in 1969, after serving 2 years as a Navy Dentist with the Second Marine Division at Camp Lejeune NC. He is a graduate of Syosset HS, SUNY Buffalo with a BA in History, and the SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. After beginning his practice in Catskill NY, Dr. Catalano became active in the community , becoming a founding member of the Greene County Jaycees in 1970, the President of the Greene County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, for several terms, and most recently as a member of the Greene County Rural Health Network.

He was also active in the local dental community serving as President of the Greene County Dental Society, the Ulster Greene Dental Study Club, the Third District Dental Society and the New York State Dental Society. He also served as Chairman of the American Dental Association Political Action Committee. Among his legislative accomplishments was the passage of the bill mandating the use of lead aprons for dental X-rays, and a bill mandating periodic education in infection control for all health care personnel. He was also appointed by Governor Mario Cuomo to the task force that managed the Aids crisis in the early 90’s.

Educationally, Dr. Catalano is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and has attained Fellowship and Mastership status in that organization. He has lectured extensively at many national dental meetings and 11 dental schools. He currently is on the faculty of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the Castle Point VA hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Dr. Catalano has a special interest in dental implants, treatment of periodontal disease, as well as cosmetic dentistry. He is married, has 5 children and one grandchild. In his leisure time he enjoys walking and hiking, tending to his garden and studying history.
