Dr. Wasilewski is a Scientist with the St. John’s Rehab Research Program (Sunnybrook Research Institute) and an Assistant Professor (status) in the Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto.

Her program of research is centered on improving the health and well-being of patients and families as they journey across the continuum of care. Specifically, her work focuses on optimizing care transitions, rehabilitation provision, and community reintegration.

Dr. Wasilewski is a recognized expert in peer and social support programming for those with chronic illnesses and their families. She has extensive expertise in qualitative, mixed method, and co-design approaches that aim to engage patients, families, and care providers in health research and service improvement.

Dr. Wasilewski applies a patient- and family-centered lens to her work and enhances the relevancy of her research to important stakeholders by engaging multi-disciplinary collaborators from diverse backgrounds (e.g. nursing, allied health, medicine, health policy). She is also a champion for the use of social media (particularly Twitter) in academic research and higher education.
