Having completed her internship in South Africa during the Soweto riots, she worked as a locum physician in Britain and ultimately moved to Canada, where she worked as a family physician for 6 months in the middle of winter in rural coastal Newfoundland. She entered the program in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto, where she became enamored with endocrinology and chose this as her career. Moved to the University of Alberta where she became Assistant Professor of Medicine. In 1992, she began her practice in endocrinology in Victoria, BC. During this time, she co-edited the book, “Endocrinology of Aging” with Dr. John E. Morley. ? In 2007, she began her direction of Victoria Clinical Research, concentrating on studies of new therapeutic agents.
