Kay Clevenger, MSN, RN is currently the Clinical Educator for Critical Care/PCU/Acute Care @ Indiana University Health West Hospital. She has spent most of her career at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis in various roles of Staff Nurse, Staff Development Coordinator for Critical Care, Clinical Manager, and lastly, the Nurse Retention Coordinator, where she was a champion of nurse satisfaction and unit success. Her clinical specialty has been critical care, specifically cardiac. Kay has published and presented nationally and regionally on retention strategies, healthy work environments, lateral violence, team building, mentoring, generational differences, crucial conversations & conflict resolution. Kay is a contributing author for the inaugural AACN’s Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments, is a tenured NTI speaker and has received two AACN Circle of Excellence (COE) Awards for “Excellent Nurse Manager” & “Collaboration: Nurse – Administrator” (for retention role).
