Justin Ryder, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Dr. Ryder is a clinical translational pediatric obesity researcher with 2 primary research focuses: 1) To understand the underlying mechanisms of how obesity effects chronic disease risk, specifically cardiovascular disease and fatty liver disease, in order to improve risk-stratification; 2) To develop and evaluate novel treatments (i.e. pharmacotherapy and surgery) for obese youth in an effort to reduce chronic disease risk (i.e. fatty liver diseases and cardiovascular disease). Dr. Ryder is active within the obesity society and the Minnesota Pediatric Obesity Consortium.
