Dr. Chan graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS Hons.) in 2003. After working the first several years as an intern and then as a hospital medical officer (HMO), JK entered the anaesthesia training program in 2007.
JK's principal training took place at Austin Hospital, Northern Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Mercy Hospital for Women and Royal Children's Hospital, and in 2012 gained his FANZCA. He completed his anaesthesia training with fellowships at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Alfred Hospital, focusing on fibreoptic airway training, ENT and maxillofacial anaesthesia, neuroanaesthesia and trauma anaesthesia.
