Joanna Mary Cain MD

Joanna Cain, MD is a Northwest native and trained as a gynecologic oncologist (the first woman fellow in that discipline at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/ Cornell). She is a retired Professor, Department Chair, and still consulting with the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization on cervical cancer and women’s health.

Joanna Cain has a wealth of experience from her health system leadership, management, medical research, and career development background. She and her husband, Norman Turrill have 2 children, both of whom work in the Portland area. She volunteers on the Friday Night Lecture Series committee and the Programs Committee—and wherever else needed. She is a weaver and knitter, and painter in her spare time.
