Jean D. Carruthers MD, FRCSC

Jean D. Carruthers, M.D., is Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where she specializes in facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Carruthers is a Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has been invited to give more than 200 presentations worldwide on topics in cosmetic surgery and has authored more than 206 scientific articles and book chapters.

With her husband, Dr. Alastair Carruthers, she pioneered the cosmetic use of botulinum A exotoxin and has remained at the forefront of research and teaching about this procedure. She opened her own cosmetic surgery practice in the late 1990s. Dr. Carruthers has been profiled in numerous publications including Best Doctors in Canada, the New York Times, Allure magazine, Time, Newsweek and Vogue. She has also been featured on the television program 20/20.
