Jayanna SlaytenBS, MS, MT(ASCP) SBB
Jayanna Slayten has been a dedicated blood banker since 1996. She completed her BS in Biology at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY then went to University of Kentucky for her Medical Technology training. After starting her career at the VA in Indianapolis, she pursued her Specialist in Blood Bank and attained her Masters in Blood Transfusion Medicine from the University of Cincinnati. Jay returned to Indianapolis as an IRL Manager at the Indiana Blood Center for 18 years. Since 2016, Jay has returned to the Transfusion Service and became the supervisor of the Indiana University Health Transfusion Service in 2017.
Throughout her career in Transfusion Medicine Jay has been an educator. She is active in the ISABB, ASCP and AABB serving on many committees and participating in education events including the AABB Annual Meeting where she is the director of the annual BB/SBB Exam Review. Jay was the Education Coordinator of the IBC SBB Program from 2005-2016, and now continues to work with SBB Students as the Teaching Assistant for the University of Texas Medical Branch SBB Program.
