James Matthew NorthMD
James North, MD, is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He received his B.S. degree from Texas Tech University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In 2000, Dr. North graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he achieved the distinction of AOA, the highest academic honor in medical school.
Dr. North did his initial training at the University of Hawaii, then completed his residency in Anesthesiology in 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. In 2005, he completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at Wake Forest University, and joined Carolinas Pain Institute in August 2005.
As an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Dr. North trains anesthesia residents and pain medicine fellows. He is also the medical director for Center for Clinical Research, serving as primary investigator on dozens of pain research studies. He has been the senior medical editor of PainPathways magazine since 2008.
