Dr. Hiroyuki Tsuchiya is the professor and chairman of The Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Graduate School of Medical Science, Kanazawa University, Japan. He graduated from Kanazawa University Medical School in 1983 and got his Japanese medical license. He started to study and work in the musculoskeletal oncology field, and also was involved in limb reconstruction with external fixators starting in 1989.
He developed "caffeine-potentiated chemotherapy for bone and soft-tissue sarcomas," "tumor reconstruction using distraction osteogenesis procedure," "tumor reconstruction using tumor bearing autogenous bone treated by liquid nitrogen," "antimicrobial iodine coating for orthopedic implants" and achieved numerous basic researches in orthopaedics and oncology.
He is now a board member of "International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS)," "ASAMI International" and many Japanese and Asian medical societies. Furthermore, he has more than 270 English publications regarding tumor biology, tumor surgery, trauma, distraction osteogenesis, pediatric orthopedics, regenerative medicine, biomaterials and adult reconstruction. He has given lectures as an invited guest speaker in numerous international and local meetings.
