Dr. Graeme L. Stephens received a Ph.D. degree in meteorology from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, in 1977., He was a University Distinguished Professor with Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, USA. Since 2010, he has been the Director of the Center for Climate Sciences, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, CA, USA. His work over the years has focused on the influence of clouds on the earth system. He has authored or coauthored more than 260 peer-reviewed publications and several chapters in books. He has authored a book, Remote Sensing., Dr. Stephens is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the Royal Society, AAAS, AGU, and AMS. He was a recipient of the Mason Gold Medal of the Royal Meteorological Society, the Gold Medal of the International Radiation Commission of IAMAP/IUGG, the Houghton and Charney Awards of the AMS, and a number of awards from NASA and Colorado State University.
