Fetter provides leadership and direction for the AAFP's workforce and medical education programs. His work includes promoting advancement and innovation in the ways that future family physicians are prepared to work in advanced models of primary care. He is an experienced adult educator and health services administrator who has more than 20 years of experience teaching and coaching family physicians, family medicine residents, medical students, nurses, and public health educators. In prior positions, Fetter has directed and provided practice facilitation for more than 500 practices. He also has supported the testing of care model innovations in conjunction with initiatives of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD), the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation Seamless Care Models Group, the Ohio Department of Health, and the U.S. Army. He is proficient in supporting the use of data to guide practice improvement; implementing sustainable care management and care coordination; implementing teaming models that advance care and enhance resilience; developing health coaching programs using clinical and community health workers; and effectively applying design elements from clinical microsystems to enhance practice outcomes.
