Dr. Frederick Tibayan is a professor of surgery and associate chief in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the OHSU School of Medicine. He performs surgery for patients with all types of adult cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and diseases of the thoracic aorta. He has special expertise in heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory assist devices, valvular heart disease, and aortic disease.
He also researches to better understand and treat valvular heart disease and the treatment of a failing heart. Dr. Tibayan earned his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University. He also completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at Stanford.
