Frederick H. Millham, MD the Surgeon-in-Chief at The South Shore Hospital a 400-bed regional hospital outside of Boston Massachusetts. In addition to being board certified in general surgery, Millham holds a certificate of added qualification in surgical critical care and has over 25 years of experience working as a general surgeon, trauma surgeon/intensivist.

Millham has a broad spectrum of clinical and managerial skills. Millham has developed a robust quality improvement program including each of SSH's 11 surgical sub-specialties modeled on the American College of Surgeons Optimal Resources for Surgical Quality and Safety guidelines. This program includes Ongoing Physician Practice Evaluation (OPPE) program, Peer Review, and process improvement.

Millham was the surgeon clinical leader in the Partners Healthcare System EPIC implementation. Millham has completed Physician Builder Courses at Epic.

Millham has been involved in trauma system development in Massachusetts for the past 20 years. Millham chaired the committee which developed The Massachusetts State Trauma Registry. Millham has chaired both the MA State-wide Trauma Committee and the Massachusetts Sub-committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Millham was a full member of the ACS COT from 2003-2009

Though not Millham's primary focus, Millham remains academically active, publishing regularly on topics in trauma surgery and general surgery. Millham teaches a Freshman Seminar, “A Brief History of Surgery”, at Harvard College and has authored a novel.
