Dr. Schipani graduated as M.D. first (1985), and Ph.D. later (1989) with Prof. Aldo Pinchera at University of Pisa-Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy.
In 1988, she specialized in Endocrinology in Pisa. In 1990, she joined the Endocrine Unit led by Prof. Henry Kronenberg at MGH-Harvard Medical School as Postdoctoral Fellow in Prof. Gino Segre's and Prof. Harald Jueppner's laboratories.
In 1997, she was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine. In 2006, she was promoted Associate Professor of Medicine at MGH-Harvard Medical School.
In 2011, she was recruited at Indiana University-Medical School as Full Professor of Medicine with tenure and Adjunct Full Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
