Dr. Eril is currently a tenured associate professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Colorado Denver. His lab generally focuses on the role of subsecond dopamine release in motivated behavior within the context of drug addiction. He measures real-time dopamine release during operant behavior using a technique called fast-scan cyclic voltammetry and controls dopamine neural activity using a technique called optogenetics. He earned his PhD at Wake Forest University under David C.S. Roberts and did his post-doctoral fellowship under Joseph F. Cheer at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
