Enrique Gomez-barrena MD, PhD

Enrique Gomez-Barrena was graduated in Medicine from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 1987, and trained as a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid (Spain), completing a Ph.D. in the Anatomy Department of Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) in 1992. During an Orthopaedic Research Fellowship at the Hip and Knee Service and the Biomechanics and Biomaterials Department at the Hospital for Special Surgery-Cornell University in New York (USA) in 1994, he became involved in UHMWPE and orthopaedic devices research. Appointed as Associate Professor and then Full Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in Madrid, Autonomous University, at Hospital La Paz, his research has been oriented to polyethylene and orthopaedic materials development.
