Dr. Haut is Associate Professor of Surgery and Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins. He a member of the Department of Surgery's Division of Acute Care Surgery and is the Director of the Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
His clinical interests are in the treatment of traumatic injuries, acute care general surgery, and the management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit.
He is an active clinical researcher in the fields of trauma outcomes and systems of care. His main trauma research interests relate to trauma systems, trauma education, and trauma care delivery models. He also has a strong research focus on prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
