'Sports for All’ is the message today, in the year of the successful London Olympics. The participation and performance of many of our Indians Athletes at the recent Olympics, was a great revelation and encouragement to all of us. The development of a Champion athlete is multifactorial and requires good coaching staff, excellent sporting facilities, active Government support and absolute dedication from the athlete. Along with these factors, the Sports Medicine Team also plays an important part in the development of the Champion athlete. The role of Sports Medicine in India is visibly emerging and the Indian Association of Sports Medicine is dedicated to integrating the role of Clinicians, Scientists involved in Sports Nutrition, Doping, Sports Psychology and Rehabilitation to develop the Physical fitness and Sporting excellence of the people of India. It is important to understand that Sports Medicine is not only for the elite sports persons of India but our major task would be to spread the message and offer our services at the grass-root level. I look forward to our Association being an active catalyst and partner, in promoting Sports Medicine to every corner of India. The flame of Sports and Exercise has been lit and the Indian Association of Sports Medicine through Education, Workshops, Seminars and Conferences will offer valuable support to ALL sportspersons in India.
