Christine Lawless MD, MBA, FACC, CAQSM, ABCL

Dr. Christine Lawless received her MD from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood IL, and her MBA from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend IN. She is board certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, and formally trained in Sports Medicine. Dr. Lawless is a fellow in both the ACC (American College of Cardiology) and ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine).

Dr. Lawless served as an academic cardiologist for 10 years in the Loyola University Heart Failure and Heart Transplant programs, and for 10 years as a team physician for US Figure Skating World Teams. In 2011, Dr. Lawless created and founded the American College of Cardiology Sports and Exercise Cardiology Section, and served as its first co-chair from 2011-to 2014. She has published original articles in JACC (ACC journal), Circulation (American Heart Association AHA journal), and Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (ACSM journal), and has regularly presented her research at annual meetings of ACC, AHA, and the major Sports Medicine organizations.

Dr. Lawless edited and co-authored “Sports Cardiology Essentials (Springer Publishing 2010),” and founded Sports Cardiology Consultants, a firm specializing in training sports medicine physicians and cardiologists in the practice of Sports Cardiology. Her clients have included Major League Soccer, the University of Nebraska, Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ, and the NFL. Currently, she also serves as Medical Director of the Boeing Account at Blue Cross Blue Shield IL in Chicago, where she participates in the healthcare administration of over 350,000 Boeing employees. Dr. Lawless is highly regarded locally, nationally, and internationally as an extraordinary clinician, medical educator, author, and speaker. In her spare time, Dr. Lawless enjoys hiking, ice skating, singing at Chicago’s Holy Name Cathedral, and serving on the Board of Braveheart’s, a premier therapeutic horseback riding academy in Harvard IL.
