Dongsheng Duan, Ph.D. is the Margaret Proctor Mulligan Professor in Medical Research, in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

Dr. Duan received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and is the recipient of a number of honors and awards, including: 2004 Spurgeon Distinguished Medical Research Award, University of Missouri; 2006 Outstanding New Investigator Award, American Society of Gene Therapy; 2008 Margaret Proctor Mulligan Professor, University of Missouri; 2009 Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity, University of Missouri and 2010- Member, Muscular Dystrophy Association Scientific Advisory Committee.

Duan worked as a research associate at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and as a post-doc and visiting assistant professor at the University of Iowa.
