Ms. D. Eygendaal (1969) has been appointed professor by special appointment of Orthopedics, in particular the elbow, at the University of Amsterdam's (AMC-UvA) Faculty of Medicine with effect from 1 March. The chair was established on behalf of the Amphia Foundation.

Denise Eygendaal focuses as an orthopedic surgeon on disorders of the arms, in particular disorders of the elbow such as degeneration of the elbow joint, post-traumatic abnormalities and sports-related disorders. She is involved in prevention and the prevention of injuries. She does this in close collaboration with physiotherapists, sports doctors and other practitioners. In the coming years she will supervise doctors in training who are conducting research into sports-related elbow disorders.

Eygendaal has been a consultant orthopedic surgeon at the Amphia Hospital in Breda since 2006. She is also a top sports consultant for various sports associations and, together with the tennis and gymnastics association, has drawn up guidelines for maximum stress for young athletes. Eygendaal provides national and international education about the elbow and is one of the initiators of the education platform Elleboogkliniek.nl, which aims to improve the treatment of elbow complaints in the Netherlands. She is a daily board member of the European Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. In 2014, Eygendaal was named Top Doctor in a national election for and by medical specialists.
