Deborah McLellan, PhD, MHS, is a senior scientist working closely with Dr. Sorensen and the Center for Work, Health, and Well-being to develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate interventions to improve worker health. Her most notable publications include the SafeWell Practice Guidelines: Integrated Approaches to Worker Health, a series for the National Cancer Institute's Tobacco Research Network on Disparities (TReND) on the impact of tobacco-control policies on women and girls of low socioeconomic status; publications in conjunction with Dr. Sorensen's team on approaches to reducing smoking among working-class populations; and chapters on women and smoking for the 2005 edition of Our Bodies, Our Selves and the 2001 U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Women and Smoking.

Deborah received her MHS from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and her PhD from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Previously, she was associate director of the Center for Community Based Research, overseeing cancer prevention research and education projects in multi-ethnic working-class populations. She came to DFCI from Washington, DC, where she was a health policy analyst focusing on tobacco-control issues for the American Public Health Association (APHA).
