Claudio Lamartina, MD was born in Marsala (TP) November 25, 1949, he attended primary school and high school in Palermo. He graduated in 1974 in Medicine and Surgery with 110/110 cum laude with participation in the “Albanese” Prize from the University of Palermo, he specialized in Anesthesiology in 1977 and 1980 in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan.

He has worked since 1975 at the I.R.C.C.S. Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in Milan where since 2000 he served as head of Spine Surgery. Since 2003, he has been Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology, University of Milan, and responsible for the surgery Referral Center for Spinal AOSpine European Regions (www.aospine.org). He also worked as Guest Surgeon at Hospital Askar Ali Omar Al SBEA Tripoli Libia.

He supervised his training by attending the most important centers of Spine Surgery in Italy and abroad. He performs over 200 spinal surgeries a year, including the cervical and lumbar disc surgery, fractures, infections, spinal tumors, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, kyphosis, degenerative disease, and revision surgery.

He was the advisor of the G.I.S. Italian Society of Spine Surgery and chairperson of the Italian Chapter AOSpine. He has participated as a speaker or moderator at numerous scientific conferences in Italy and abroad; he was also chairman of congresses and courses of Spine Surgery in Italy and abroad.
