Biography :

Dr. Wendling is a rural family physician in Northern Michigan and an associate professor and director of the Rural Health Curriculum for Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. She has received many teaching awards including MSU-CHM’s Outstanding Community Volunteer Faculty award in 2012, the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2004, and the American Academy of Family Physician’s Pfizer Teacher Development Award in 2000.

Dr. Wendling has been on the editorial board for Family Medicine for eight years, including serving as editor of the Dedicated Issue on Rural Health published in Nov/Dec of 2010, and currently serves as an assistant editor for the journal. She is the national chairperson for STFM’s Group on Rural Health and is a member of STFM’s Communications Committee.

Dr. Wendling lectures on rural medicine and regularly precepts students in her rural practice. She has presented and published in the areas of resident evaluation and rural health, and is currently a speaker and course director for The Center for Medical Education’s National Family Medicine Board Review Course.
