Andrea G. Bjornestad BS, MA, PhD, LPC, NCC

Dr. Andrea Bjornestad is an Assistant Professor and extension mental health specialist in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at South Dakota State University. Her research interests focus on secondary traumatic stress symptoms in military spouses and the impact of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder on military families. She has presented her research at the state, regional, and national levels. She is a former military spouse and has planned workshops to support military families, helped design professional development opportunities to educate others on helping military children, and has co-facilitated support groups for military spouses. She is a licensed professional counselor in South Dakota.
