Dr. Raslan is an associate professor of neurological surgery; he manages patients with a spectrum of neurosurgical disorders , his focused practice is epilepsy surgery, brain mapping for tumors and epilepsy which often involves awake craniotomy, surgery for chronic and cancer pain (Trigeminal neuralgia, spinal pain and many other chronic pain syndrome), and movement disorders.
In 2004, Raslan joined OHSU as a neurosurgical instructor. Already a fully qualified neurosurgeon, in 2012 he completed the OHSU neurological surgery residency program (required for practice in the US). Dr. Raslan joined the faculty of neurological surgery in July 2012 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 2017.
Dr. Raslan's research is focused on the physiology of nociception and pain modulation , pathophysiology of trigeminal neuralgia , outcomes of functional neurosurgery, functional localization using intraoperative and extraoperative mapping, surgical education and operative efficiency.
