Afsheen Lakhani is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Boston University Henry. M Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM). She received her D.M.D from BUGSDM in 2006 and went on to complete her Advanced Education residency in General Dentistry. To balance her passion for direct patient care and academia, She is currently working as a restorative dentist at BU Dental Health Center and serves as the Practice Leader in the Predoctoral Treatment Center in the Department of General Dentistry at BUGSDM.

In addition to teaching pre-doctoral students, she serve on Admissions Committee as well as Continuing Education (CE) Advisory committee at BUGSDM and conducted CE courses. She has also been a CAD/CAM mentor for the Dental Assistant Training program & International preceptorship program at BUGSDM. Moreover, She has been a part of a few research projects such as "Impact of COVID-19 on Dental Education: Perceptions of Dental School Faculty and Students" and have also initiated a clinical research project at BUGSDM titled, “The Impact of Peer Mentoring on the Professional Development of Dental Students.”

She constantly strive to expand her skills - she is a part of ADEA Leadership Institute class of 2021. She have also completed a year long Women Leadership program, and was awarded a a Scholarship for the Advancement of Women Faculty in Clinical Professions by the Institute of Teaching and Learning in 2019. She is humbled and deeply grateful to be the recipient of 2021 Spencer N. Frankl Award for Excellence in Teaching at BUGSDM. She was also recognized by Dentsply Sirona for Smart Integration award for Digital clinical workflow category 2021.
