A. K. Mukhopadhyay MBBS, MD, MNAMS

Dr. A. K. Mukhopadhyay is Professor of Laboratory Medicine since 01.07.2002, took over as the Head of the Department since 01.04.2006. Medical graduate (MBBS) from University of Calcutta (1977), post graduate (MD) in pathology from AIIMS (1981), a Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, India (1988). Following Appointment as Lecturer in Pathology for Clinical Pathology for the Central Laboratory of AIIMS in 1985, he became an integral part of the movement that transformed this central laboratory service area into a full-fledged Academic Department in 1988. He was officiating Head of the department from 01.06.94 to 26.03.96. He was also instrumental in establishing a 3-year residency program leading to MD degree in Laboratory Medicine. MD course started in the Dept. since July 1997 and so also the PhD Program in Laboratory Medicine. The dept. at present performs nearly eleven million investigations per year.
