Their laboratory aiming to elucidate the mechanism of diabetic complications, in particular, diabetic nephropathy, and develop a novel therapy for diabetic nephropathy. Our main research themes are as follows: Elucidation of the mechanism of renal fibrosis in diabetic condition, Research on the effectiveness for DPP4 inhibitors and endogenous anti-fibrotic peptide AcSDKP for diabetes-induced renal fibrosis, Study on the renal protective effect through the maintenance of mitochondrial homeostasis or the activation of autophagy by calorie restriction or low-protein diet protein, Elucidation of neural regulatory mechanism for insulin secretion by GLP-1. Clinically, we are focusing on the prevention of the severity of diabetes and diabetic complication by way of team medical care.
