Indonesian Palliative Society / Masyarakat Paliatif Indonesia (MPI)

Indonesian Palliative Society is a community of scientists, practitioners, and medical academics that have a special interest in palliative cases that occurs and develops in Indonesia. The members of Indonesian Palliative Society community are from various disciplines of medical science, nurses, pharmacists, midwifes, psychologists, nutricionists, physiotherapists, volunteers, chaplains, survivors, social workers and caregivers. As of today, the Indonesian Palliative Society has more than 700 members across Indonesia.

It was first established as an initiative by a group of scientists, practitioners, academics and people in the community who were concerned about the comfort of cancer patients. Since then, an idea sparked about the importance of an organization that gathers competent doctors who care about palliative cases in Indonesia. Surabaya city witnessed the declaration that formed Masyarakat Paliatif Indonesia (Indonesian Palliative Society/MPI) with the establishment of vision and mission as well as the commitments of the scientists, practitioners, academics of medics, and community in Indonesia in 2008.

Along the way, Indonesian Palliative Society have propagated the latest science and knowledge on palliative management in Indonesia. Thus far, the Indonesian Palliative Society has organized their 4th National Congress. In the near future, Indonesian Palliative Society will be inaugurated as one of the specified medical organization under Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI).

​Currently, the Indonesian Palliative Society have 8 branch members in Indonesia and have many types of services (inpatient, outpatient, home base care, day care, respite care), education (TOT, In House Training) and research.
