French Association of Foot Surgery / Association Francaise de Chirurgie du Pied (AFCP)

Reims, Grand Est, France

Surgeons interested in these pathologies spontaneously regrouped in 1993 to found the GEP (Study Group of the Foot) which was transformed in 1997 into the French Association of Foot Surgery (AFCP). Since its inception, the AFCP's goal has been to defend the fact that foot and ankle surgery is done only by orthopedic surgeons, unlike the evolution in some countries. This goal was reinforced by the signing of an agreement in 2004 with the SOFCOT (French Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery), recognizing the status of associated society making the AFCP the preferred interlocutor of the SOFCOT in foot and ankle.
