Dermatology Foundation (DF)
he Dermatology Foundation marks its 50th anniversary this year and there is much to celebrate. Since the DF was established in 1964, dermatology has emerged as a vital and progressive specialty in the house of medicine, and the Foundation is proud to have maintained a central role in its evolution.
As we look to the next fifty years, we are keenly aware that the downward trend in federal research grants is a severe threat to future progress. New physician-scientists and investigators are finding it tremendously discouraging to begin careers in our field and, as a result, need DF support more than ever. If you are not a member or supporter of the Foundation, make this year your first the specialty needs your help. Dermatology has given us all so much, and together we can advance the care available to every patient.
On behalf of the DF's officers and Board of Trustees, I wish to extend our deep appreciation to our many colleagues, specialty societies and corporations who have demonstrated their strong commitment for the Foundation mission over five decades. We look forward to celebrating our past this year and the support of the dermatologic community to ensure our future.
