College of Paediatrics, Academy of Medicine Malaysia

The Chapter of Paediatrics under the Academy of Medicine was set up in 1995 to promote the professional development of the field of paediatrics and to represent the fraternity of paediatricians in Malaysia. Four years later, in concordance with the other chapters in the Academy, it was renamed the College of Paediatrics. The term AMMCOP (Academy of Medicine of Malaysia College of Paediatrics) was coined and a new logo was designed which is still in use today. One of the earlier objectives was to extend the age limit of the patient in “Paediatrics” in Malaysia from 12 years to 18 years in keeping with international guidelines.
