Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS)
ASCVTS was originally started in 1973 as the Asian Chapter of ISCVS, the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, which was been founded by Drs. DeBakey, Haimovici and other eminent cardiovascular surgeons.
In 1992 ASCVS started between Korea, Taiwan and Japan. The first meeting was held in Fukuoka, Japan in 1993. In 2004 ASCVS become independent from ISCVS, because ISCVS become ISVS, the society for only vascular surgeons only. In 2008 ASCVS added the thoracic surgery part and became ASCVTS (The Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery). ASCVTS includes 30 countries with more than 1000 members.
