Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association North Carolina Chapter

Raleigh, North Carolina, United States of America

ABOUT :
ALS was first found in 1869 by French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot, but it wasn’t until 1939 that Lou Gehrig brought national and international attention to the disease. Ending the career of one of the most beloved baseball players of all time, the disease is still most closely associated with his name.

The ALS Association (National Office and the North Carolina Chapter) operates under a shared mission: To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter has been committed to serving people with ALS and their families as well as working to find a cure for ALS since June Thompson founded the Chapter in 1987.

The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. They cover all the bases - research, patient and community services, public education and advocacy - in providing help and hope to those facing the disease.

Create a world without ALS
