Research focus:
My research is directed towards the understanding of the pathological mechanisms underlying multiple sclerosis (MS) - a chronic neurological disease of the central nervous system. I have extensive experience in the field of Neuroimmunology including virology, pathology, immunology and neurosciences and have been instrumental in Establishing novel research tools to develop novel therapeutic approaches for MS. My commitment to MS extends to understanding the needs of people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by organizing interactions between patients and scientists (Meet The Scientist in the UK) and by facilitating public awareness of the disease. My research in Pathology at VUmc is AIMED at Establishing the link between EBV and MS as well as the development of human brain slice cultures in an attempt to model the possible early events in the formation of pathological lesions in MS.
