The mission of the ACS Green Chemistry Institute® (ACS GCI) is to catalyze and enable the implementation of green and sustainable chemistry and engineering throughout the global chemical enterprise and across the Society.
We truly believe that innovation in green chemistry and engineering holds the key to solving many environmental and human health issues facing our world today. Thus, ACS GCI efforts focus on strategically promoting and advancing green chemistry.
The Green Chemistry Institute (GCI) was founded in 1997 by representatives from industry, government, and academia. In 2001, the GCI joined the American Chemical Society to pursue their joint interests in the discovery and design of chemical products and processes that address global environmental issues.
