Motivational Interviewing With Disordered Eating Clients is organized by Dietitian Central.

Live Event Date: Sep 28, 2021
Expiration Date: May 31, 2024

Target Audience: RDs, DTRs, Health Professionals

How can we as dietitians use motivational interviewing (MI) with clients who have disordered eating (DE)? Clients with DE are some of the most challenging to counsel. Registered dietitians need to be skilled in providing nutrition counseling to this client population. MI involves assessing stages of readiness to change and helping clients move toward making change. It has been shown to be beneficial in the course of nutrition counseling and can be particularly effective for those struggling with DE. This webinar will help both new and experienced dietitians learn how to use MI for clients with DE as well as discuss specific examples of how to conduct MI for DE clients.

Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
• Define motivational interviewing (MI).
• Understand key steps and skills used in MI.
• Apply MI skills to situations with disordered eating (DE) clients.
• Apply learned methods to case study examples.
