Overview:
This complimentary activity will provide primary care clinicians with an update on osteoporosis and bone health. It’s understandable if you feel barraged and overwhelmed by all of the data on screening, BMD, and fractures. After reading that data with critical insight, Dr. David Plourd will distill that information into practical clinical pearls. Current screening guidelines, modalities, and current prevention & treatment regimens will be highlighted.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
• Describe the burden of disease presented by osteoporosis and the clinical consequences of osteoporotic fractures
• Identify patients at high risk of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture and select evidence-based screening and diagnostic modalities
• Recognize the efficacy, risks, and benefits of new and emerging treatments for osteoporosis
