Description:
Learning and assessment with the EHR allow faculty an opportunity to ensure that the students are developing their clinical judgment skills effectively. Through a process of efficient and effective integration across the curriculum, these tools can serve to bring clinical to class and simultaneously take classroom learning to the clinical setting. The focus will be to help faculty visualize strategies that are effective at all levels of the curriculum. Concerns related to technology competency, internet access, and student financial needs will also be addressed. Professional competencies such as Quality and Safety Education for Nurses, Institute of Medicine core competencies, Next Gen Learning, and the Essentials of Baccalaureate Nursing will serve as a foundation for the discussion.
Objectives:
• Describe the key features to consider when choosing an EHR.
• Explore assessment strategies that are more effective when using the EHR.
• Critique learning strategies with the EHR that can promote the development of clinical judgment.
