Orofacial Neuropathy: Appropriate Diagnosis and Treatment is organized by Academy of Integrative Pain Management (AIPM) and will be held during May 01, 2018 - May 01, 2021.
The target audience for this medical event is designed for all clinicians who treat chronic pain. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The program offers a brief review of orofacial neuropathies of the trigeminal and facial nerves and proposed neurological mechanisms. Diagnostic testing is stressed along with the importance of early diagnosis, prevention of missed diagnoses, and avoidance of inappropriate treatment. The balance of the programs provides a review of medical management of orofacial neuropathy and introduce novel treatments including effective intraoral topical medications and delivery mechanisms. Topicalformulations are offered along with specific directions for compounding pharmacies. Case studies punctuate the program with a short discussion period.
• Distinguish between orofacial neuropathy and other pain in the orofacial region.
• Briefly describe possible mechanisms of central and peripheral trigeminal neuropathic pain.
• Prescribe treatment for orofacial neuropathies.
